Our Story

Happy Acres Cowboy Church was founded by Pastor Charity Harris in 2012.

Charity and his wife, Ruth, have been involved in missions and church-planting in Africa for the past 56 years. Over the past 30 years they have raised enough funds to build over 500 tabernacle-type churches. When Mrs. Harris was no longer able to travel long distances due to age, Charity prayed on one of his trips: "Dear Heavenly Father, it has now come time that Ruth cannot travel with me, and I do not want to leave her behind. Open a door of ministry for us here in the U.S.A. I have given my life to Africa, let me give something to my own country. "Shortly after his prayer, the Lord spoke to his heart - "Start a cowboy church, build an indoor arena, and take the Gospel to them." The director of the Bethesda Boys Home in Mounds, Oklahoma, gave 40 acres of land to the church so that Pastor Harris' dream could be realized. After several years of work, Cross Bar Arena is open and hosting events!

Happy Acres Cowboy Church is non-denominational, and it is not just for cowboys. It is for anyone who desires to fellowship with believers and spend time in the presence of the Lord!

In August 2012, we began having services with a handful of people in a living room; we quickly ran out of room and moved to a horse barn and held services there for over a year and a half. In the spring of 2014 we moved from that horse barn to the facility we now call home.

Our sanctuary is inside of Cross Bar Arena, an 80,000 square foot indoor rodeo arena. We hold services twice a week and anyone is welcome! We believe that you can "Come as you are" and that "You don't have to be a believer to come to church". Our mission is to reach the lost and to provide a place where those who wouldn't feel comfortable in a traditional church setting do feel comfortable.

In January 2021, Charity Harris went to be with the Lord. We celebrated his life of service to the Kingdom on January 14, 2021.
